Newsletter Project Hero June 2020
Through this newsletter we will keep you informed of the latest news of our projects.

Consequences of Covid-19

The consequences of the Covid-19 virus and its impact on our projects are enormous. The Lock down in particular causes problems. For example, the children no longer go to school, but are educated at home. This also means more mouths to feed during the day. Food prices have skyrocketed and school supplies are hard to come by. We have maintained close contact with our contacts and are impressed by their motivation to take care of not only the children but also the people around them who are having a hard time. For example, they hand out extra food packages, meals and soap to the poor. This is the true gospel, "Love your neighbor as yourself". We are therefore very grateful that with the help of your donations and prayers our projects have been able to do this.

What now

Slowly but surely, the projects are also looking to the future. They have found a way into homeschooling. It now looks like the children will not be able to go back to school until after the holidays. Despite the difficult period, the children grew closer, were able to spend more time together and had more time for Bible studies.

Sponsorship an important basis

You as a sponsor not only make a difference in a child's life. The children's home where they live, the environment, school and community are also positively influenced. In addition to sponsoring a child, you help build a country in poverty.

That is why we will introduce a number of children to you in each newsletter. Would you like to pray with us and consider whether there might be someone in your area who would like to sponsor one of these children?

This time it's Elissy from Kenya and Tumelo from South Africa:

Elissy Steven

Kenya:
Elissy is the eldest in a family with two children. When Elissy was almost two years old, her mother died. The children were left with their grandmother who worked hard, but could hardly provide enough food for the children. She has asked Hope4hope for help so that the children can go to school and build their future. Elissy enjoys reading and dancing and would like to work in the hospital in the future.

Tumelo Fortune Mohale
South Africa:
Tumelo has a twin brother Tumiso. Their father died when they were two years old. The mother babysits another woman's baby from which she earns a little money, but that is not enough to provide for her family. Thanks to sponsorship Tumelo can go to school and build on his future. Tumelo likes to play football and would like to become a judge when he grows up.

Letters from your sponsor child

We are currently living in a strange time worldwide. There is still little that is normal and self-evident, even in our projects. Due to the Lock down of much of the world, it is difficult, if not impossible for our projects to get the children to write the letters and send them. Not all children live in the children's home itself. A number of projects have different shelters where the children live. Some homes have had to divide the children because the government does not allow too many people to be together. For these reasons, unfortunately, they cannot comply with sending the letters. You will receive letters again as soon as this is possible, but we ask for your understanding and patience.

Mission trips

Every year we try, together with a team, to visit a number of our projects. This is very encouraging for the projects and the children and they always look forward to it! A special experience for both the projects and the travelers. During these trips it is possible to visit your sponsored child, participate in the project and get a taste of their culture. We also spread the gospel where possible and distribute food, medicine and toys to those who need it.

As you may understand, at the moment we cannot foresee when it will be possible to travel safely again. This depends on the airlines and the countries we travel to. The planned trips are currently on our website, but this may soon change as we will have to adjust our planning to the current and future situation.

If you are interested in visiting your sponsored child and/or going on a mission trip, please send a message to info@projectheld.nl. We can include this in our planning.
